Old Midsea Sailor Chant
by
John Red Shirts

From the Temple of the Phoenix to the Vault of the Moon,
We sail from Midsea to the Oceans of Doom.
North by North is the Midst of all Things,
The East and West Winds swirl round it in Rings

(refrain)
South sits on the World’s Edge,
with a Wizard Wall of Endless Ice,
It’s all Knife Point or an Axe Edge,
Life’s a roll of the Dice.

The Fire-Bird’s Birth
gives us the warm Sunrise.
Death at the End of Day’s
Is Sunset’s burning Demise.

(refrain)
South sits on the World’s Edge,
with a Wizard Wall of Endless Ice,
It’s all Knife Point or an Axe Edge,
Life’s a roll of the Dice.

The Vault of the Moon
Floats in Dorinth’s Dead Star
Our Sextant scans it’s Travels
Up in the Great Far Afar

(refrain)
South sits on the World’s Edge,
with a Wizard Wall of Endless Ice,
It’s all Knife Point or an Axe Edge,
Life’s a roll of the Dice.

The Conservators of Time,
take too long to confer,
The Open Sea and Chance
is what we prefer!

“The heaven turns continually round the earth and sea upon a celestial axis, where two extremities are like two pivots that sustain it: for there are two places in which the Flight of the Phoenix has fashioned these pivots as two centres; one is above the earth among the northern stars; the other is at the opposite end beneath the earth to the south; and around these pivots, as round two centres, the Firebird has placed little naves, like those of a wheel upon which the heaven and its Firmament turns continually.
